On 06-08 Dec 2017, the Chair of Cartography, Technical University of Munich, and the Geospatial Cognitive and Visual Analytics Research Center (GCVARC), Beijing Normal University, China held a three-day joint research seminar at TU Munich. 

On the 9th of October the 7th intake started the Cartography Master programme. This year, a whole welcoming week was organized and we think it was the first highlight of their studies for the new group of students. We are happy to have 24 students from 20 different countries studying with us.

The Day of Geodesy on the Odeonsplatz in Munich with theodlit, IR-camera, surveing laserscanner and a virtual sandbox from the University Augsburg shows the potential of present geodesy technics.

A strong team of the chair attended this year´s International Cartographic Conference in Washington, DC. With 4 oral presentation and 2 poster presentations our team played a very active part at the ICC 2017.

Our team participated on the 5. TUM Campuslauf in Garching.

During his nine-days voyage through Europe Prof. Kainz with his 29 geography students the chair of Cartography. The students got an overview about the chair, their study programs and all research topics. In the end a short practical part in our eye tracking lab rounds off the event.

From Friday to Saturday the chair of Cartography be part of the excursion of the Verband Deutscher Vermessungswesen (VDV). Mr. Dr. Kumke hold a specialist lecture about high mountain cartography and visited with the participants the geodetic places of terrestrial photogrammetric measurments.
