Robotic Operations

On-Orbit Servicing and Space Debris Removal missions require a level of system flexibility of which autonomous systems are not yet capable. Such missions will therefore be initially realized in Real Time Teleoperation.

The Institute of Astronautics investigates and develops technologies in the fields intersatellite communications, human-machine interaction, and systems simulation, in order to be able to realize such missions in the future.

The current research consists of the Robotic Attitude Control and On-Orbit Navigation Lab (RACOON Lab) and Geriatronics, as well as the application research on teleoperative copter over Ka-band satellite for fire fighters (CopKa) and SAINT.
