As part of its membership in the association Runder Tisch GIS e.V. (Round Table GIS) and in the Leonhard Obermeyer Center - TUM Center of digital methods for the built environment (LOC), the TUM Chair of Geoinformatics carried out a successful workshop at the BIM World Munich 2017 conference and trade fair.

Prof. Thomas H. Kolbe was also actively involved as a member of the program committee of the conference. The contributions to the breakout session "BIM City", organized by the Round Table GIS and the LOC, were focused around the integration of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and models of the built environment as they are typically used in Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

Topics were, inter alia, the Geodesy and BIM guidelines presented by Dr. Andreas Donaubauer, the current status of harmonizing the standardization in the GIS and BIM domains, as well as projects and products for GIS-BIM-integration being presented by scientists of the LOC and member companies of the Round Table GIS and the LOC.

The next BIM World Munich will take place on November 27th and 28th 2018.
