Welcome to the Chair of Land Management at TUM!

 

The Chair of Land Management is hosting the annual PLPR-Conference from the 18th until the 22nd of March 2024

The International Academic Association on Planning, Law, and Property Rights (PLPR) will hold its 18th annual conference from the 18th until the 22nd of March 2024 in Munich (Germany).
The event will be hosted by the Chair of Land Management of the Technical University of Munich.
Annual PLPR conferences provide an opportunity to present scholarship covering a broad array of topics residing at the intersection of planning, law, and/or property rights (such as land use regulation and governance, regional and local planning, urban development, etc.).

Congratulations Dr.-Ing. Lee!

Mr. Cheonjae Lee successfully defended his doctoral dissertation entitled “A Divided Nation: Land Tenure, Governance and the Korean Re-Unification”. As a result of the pandemic, the PhD defense has gone virtual during COVID-19. Therefore, his presentation and oral examination took place on the morning of 26th January 2021 via Zoom.

The overall aim of his inquiry for PhD dissertation was to investigate the emerging role and significance of land tenure and land governance in the context of Korean unification by both reviewing empirical evidence and identifying the contextualized factors, relationship and priorities through the development of various methods, tools and techniques based on the responsible and Smart land management (RSLM) framework. Dr.-Ing Cheonjae Lee developed a set of analytical tools and techniques for rationalizing the significance and impact of land tenure re-formalization and land governance re-arrangement that include CIMOC framework, tools of land governance and geospatially informed analysis.

Prof. Dr. Stephan Freudenstein, who enabled a welcoming and supportive environment, chaired the session. Following the presentation of the research results, an earnest discussion with Prof. Dr. Walter T. de Vries and Prof. Dr. Peter Ekbäck took place.

Dr.-Ing. Cheonjae Lee will continue to work with us at the Chair of Land Management of the Technical University of Munich, through his involvement in the recently granted 3VRUT project, in collaboration with partners from Japan, Spain and Poland. The Chair looks forward to further joint projects that would deepen his knowledge and contribute to his expertise in teaching and researching, and heartily wishes Dr.-Ing. Lee a lifetime of success.
